No, it’s not another tea party, but there will be dessert…
… and this time I’m doing the baking!
I’m proud and honored to be invited by food giant Nestlé Philippines Inc. to hold a set of baking demos for them, one of which is specifically for readers of Dessert Comes First.
my cheesecake with a nut crust:
… and my buttermilk scones:
The scones are a last-minute inclusion ”“ readers of my blog seem to be keen but quite confounded by them: should scones be soft or hard? How should the dough be handled so that they come out flakey? Come to the demo and I’ll show you how it’s done and maybe you might even be able to try a freshly-baked scone for yourself.
I wish that we could all bake together but obviously it would be chaos. Still, there’ll be plenty of baking and dialoguing about dessert at the demo, and you’ll be more than welcome to come up to the kitchen counter and look over my shoulder, help me out, even. It’s the closest thing to a personal baking lesson from me, and I’m excited to learn from you, too. Aside from attending the demo, there’ll be a tasting of the desserts afterwards, but please don’t expect quantities such as what you encountered at the tea party.
I’d like you to feel that you’re a part of this event, so I’m inviting you to bring a dessert that YOU MADE using Nestlé products ( see list here ). You don’t have to bring a dessert but it would be great if you could. The more desserts, the merrier, I always say, and it might turn into a real dessert party, who knows? You don’t have to bring loads of the dessert, either. Just bring one recipe’s worth, whether that be one 9-inch cake, 24 bar cookies, whatever it may be.
This demo is absolutely FREE of charge. All you have to do is email me with the title “Baking Demo” in the subject heading to reserve a slot for yourself. Indicate as well whether you’ll be bringing a dessert and what it’ll be ”“ cake, cookies, etc. Deadline for reservations is 2:00 pm on August 23, 2006.
