I’m looking to form a team of writers for Dessert Comes First. Yes, that’s right – this blog is getting bigger and I’d like you to be a part of it.
It’s been almost two years since I got sick – how time has passed – but even then I was very aware of what was going on in the culinary community, and wondering why there weren’t more articles detailing these drool-worthy developments.
These are delicious times we live in and the food conversations keep on going. Let’s face it, the food world is so dynamic that keeping up is impossible for one person. So I’ve decided to cast a wide net and look for talented people who want to tell their own food stories. There is a need for objective, original food content, and I’m looking for people who can work with me to make that happen.
As a brand, DCF is still the same and retains its original objective: to narrate high quality and tasteful stories about food that include but are not limited to restaurants, recipes, travels, coffee, home bakers, and much more. It’s important to remember that a DCF piece has always been an experience story and not judgment.
Which brings me to…
I’m looking for you, a person who gets it, this inherent understanding and familiarity with DCF as a brand, ideally because you’ve followed it through the nearly 12 (!) years that it’s been around. You know its audience because you are a part of it. As a food blog, DCF is obviously targeted at people who are zealous about food, shameless food lovers, if you will. A huge qualification for writing on DCF is that you LOVE food, an honest to goodness, live-to-eat person. Writing experience is a plus but what’s more significant is that you are articulate and know how to string together a sentence. Also, if you can take decent food pictures, even if it’s just with your mobile phone and/or point-and-shoot, all the better.
So if you’d like to work with me and other fervently food-minded people, please submit:
- A short piece (500 words or less) telling me a little about yourself and why you think you’re the right person for DCF.
- At least 2 writing samples; links to online pieces are ok too.
- OPTIONAL: photo sample(s)
Please email the above requirements to: email@example.com
Deadline of Submissions is March 7, 2017.
I’m happy to answer any questions, feel free to include it here as a comment or email me using the address above.
I’m excited for YOU to be a part of the DCF Creative Team!
