Think Wink is a curious name for a cookie business but not if you consider that their baker is named Winky.
Winky Sagenes – such a unique name – sends me such an unassuming email asking me if I’d like to try her cookies, that I can practically feel her shyness emanating from my monitor. Her cookies include Oatmeal Choco Chips, Oatmeal Kahlua-Raisins, Double Chocolate Chunks, and Nutella Chunk.
Winky, who describes herself as a “a shy mom of four cookie-eating kids who wants to be a great home baker,” puts great premium on presentation. Immediately evident is her packaging: every cookie is individually wrapped for longer shelf life. I can attest that these cookies stay moist for days, although no dessert-lover in her right mind should have sweets lying around for longer than two.
I agree with Winky that her cookies are “absolutely not over baked and not sickeningly sweet.” I believe that she uses a similar batter for all her cookies, each variety livened up with additions of raisins and chocolate. You’ll notice from the photos that the oatmeal cookies are very nubby indeed. The inclusion of whole oats here makes for a cookie that’s chewy and pleasantly gritty with humps and bumps hiding a cache of raisins and chocolate.
Winky’s Nutella Chunk cookie (cover photo) hosts one nubbin of what she calls “homemade Nutella.” It’s ensconced in a brown sugar-vanilla batter heavy with scents of butter. It’s not overly chocolatey or sweet. It’s my favorite of the lot. Her Salted Caramel sounds dreamy too but I haven’t tried it.
Think Wink cookies are some of the most simple, straightforward cookies I’ve featured here on DCF. What I like the most about them is that they’re individually wrapped making for a cookie that’s extra soft and they’re wonderful to pack along for takeaway or to give as gifts.
As Winky’s email signature goes, “Think Once, Think Twice, Think Wink.”
