At the Party, some readers got a kick out of taking pictures of my shoes while others lifted me up — literally! — off the ground.
Part 1: The Set-Up & Opening
Part 2: The People
Part 3: Those SHOES & Where Do I Go From Here?
First, some last-minute funny photos that I want to share with you:
- As these two photos prove, event photographer Aldwin really wants that Hershey’s gift basket.
- What could K possibly be whispering to the people at the Delize booth? They seem absolutely intrigued.
- When I’m pigging out, the last thing I want to do is take a photo of myself. Apparently, Ian doesn’t have that problem. (wink!)
- Speaking of pigs, event photographer #2, Owee Salva, puckers up to her Mr. Piggy Bread.
Being lifted up … 3 times!
- It all started with Ian, who impulsively swooped me up…
- … followed by Nel and Garch, who weren’t about to be shown over…
- … and finally, Garch and Ouie decided to carry me using a “strategic” hands-crossed-over-arms maneuver. Ay-yay-yay!
Now, a word about those SHOES:
- See them shoes?
I’ve been told that my fashion style borders on edgy. True, I’m not what you could call a Polo shirt and pearls girl and I rarely wear black because I adore color. Also, as can now be gleaned, I love my accessories and I love my shoes. I get compliments on my shoes often but I’ve never — in my whole life — had people take pictures of them. The first time it happened at the party, I was talking to a guest when I noticed a girl not too far away surreptitiously pointing her camera at my shoes and snapping away. I’m not what you can call the shy type so I march up to her and ask, “Why on earth are you taking pictures of my shoes???” There were more succeedingly sneaky take-pictures-of-Lori’s-shoes photos by other people, but I smiled and let it slide. Some of the more candid guests came right out and jokingly demanded, “I want your shoes! Where did you get them?”
Where do I go from here?
- Dessert Comes First just turned 6. In blog years, that’s old.
Coming down from the high that was DCF’s 6th Anniversary Party, I turn inward and become pensive. I’m full of gratitude and love shown by everyone who came last Saturday to celebrate. What a milestone for me and my cyber baby, Dessert Comes First. THANK YOU again to you, my readers, whose support I cherish. As I mentioned at the party, keeping a blog going isn’t easy, especially when you’ve been doing it as long as I have. I wonder now just how much more time I have left. For now however, you can expect a hell of a lot more food porn from me.
From here on in, it’s onwards and upwards, DCF people. Dessert Comes first.
Always.

Congratulations, love the whole outfit, especially the shoes!
I’m truly sorry to have missed out on the fun, but I am truly proud of you, my friend. Keep on blogging. 😀
Wow Ms. Lori you had a great anniversary party 🙂
More power to you. Hope to be able to attend in your next event.
Upward and onward! To infinity and beyond! Always remember that so many people love DCF and you! Keep smiling, sweets 🙂
was making chismax with the Delize folk about taking my time but they already gave me my cookies (which i sampled earlier)and cake, hehe. geez, thank goodness i was treated to a pedi before the party 😉 otherwise my feet would look positively ogre-ish next to your fab feet/tootsies.
Lori, you didn’t answer the question – where did you get your shoes? 😀
Heehee. Thanks so much for the great party! I’m the girl who “stealthily” took the pics of your shoes. 😀
I sense a new project in the works: shoescomesecond!
:))
Congrats Lori!
😀
omg yes! will so support this! and you already have the connections to get this done too. 🙂
Hi Lori! About your shoes – I have one word for you: FIERCE!!! (with apologies to Christian Siriano)
Congratulations Lori!! We look back at the event and even if almost a week had already passed, we can still feel the energy of the party (and taste the treats!). Makes us smile all the time. 🙂
Thank you so much for having us in your party and more power!!
Lori, congrats!!!! Give my regards to your family!!!

My crystal ball tells me a coffee table book isn’t to far off 🙂 That would be a delight! It’ll be another event i’ll look forward to!
Hi Lori,
Been reading your blog since last year, my dream is to be able to attend one of your anniversary party! More power and keep on inspiring us! God Bless!
Where do you go from here (there)??? Lori, you might want to consider organizing an out-of-town (or better yet, out-of-country) culinary tour?? You have the best followers and (I may be wrong) judging from the photos, they seem to belong to the ‘moneyed set’ and may likely be able to afford such trip. Or if that’s pretty ambitious, why not organize a similar party but in a bigger venue so more followers and bakers can join??? Do it before Xmas so bakers can advertise their products and foodies like us know what and where to get yummy treats which we can pig-out on and give out as Xmas presents?Something like a DCF foodie bazaar???
I do envy the people who attended the party… and most of all I envy Lori for loving desserts and at the same time staying fit and sexy! (Lori,How do you stay fit?)
More power to Dessert Comes First! Thanks Lori for this great website! You make us all proud.
Fierce shoes, fierce writing indeed! One of my all-time favorite writers. I’m glad I went out of my (shy) way and introduced myself a few years back at a Starbucks press event in Malate 🙂 Congratulations Lori!
