“These tickets sold out faster than the Justin Bieber concert!” I overhear somebody grumble.
Saturday, August 20, 2011 is Registration Day for the Dessert Comes First Food Photo Workshop to be held next month. The Registration venue, The Forum, would open at 10am and I think that maybe – maybe – I’ll hang out until noon or ’til the tickets run out.
Turns out that all the tickets are SOLD OUT in 10 MINUTES.
The cover photo above is that of the early birds, all dutifully seated in their order of arrival.
This is Jean, holder of ticket #1. To be first in line, she arrived at Fully Booked at 8.20am for the 10am opening! Now that’s dedication.
“Ooh, it’s the poster!” I squeal when I get to Fully Booked at 9am, an hour before Registration starts.
“The doors are opening soon, don’t worry!” I’m mouthing to those outside.

Jason and Andy, the two super staff members of Krispy Kreme who helped me out during the Registration.
Only 30 of these babies…

Handing out the precious tickets in order of arrival.
Form filled out, payment made, Admit One.
This lucky pair got the last 2 tickets. I can’t tell you how many envious stares were shot their way when I handed those tickets to them.
I’m kicking myself for forgetting her name, but this is a shot of me with a 13-year-old DCF reader who dragged her mom to the Registration bright and early because she wanted a slot to the Workshop. I was thoroughly impressed.
With my friend and fellow blogger, Smarla and ardent DCF supporter, Paolo.
What I enjoy the most about my events is meeting people who love DCF and those who are new to DCF.
“I’ve had three hours of sleep and here I am. Give me my ticket,” mutters my good friend Nel as he lumbers in. He’s obviously had a very good Friday night, the effects of which he’s still feeling.
When everyone has left, it’s just us four standing – er, sitting. From L-R: JC, who handles ALL my events at Fully Booked – I would be lost without him; Hung-over Nel; and K, who’s trying her darndest to make him feel better.
10 minutes after Registration opened, JC had to run down to the First Floor and stamp this “violator” notice on the Workshop poster.
Thanks to EVERYONE who came out this morning and made an effort to sign up. To those of you who got a ticket, Mark and I are excited to see you on September 10!
way to go Lori!!! when’s the 2nd run? 😉
Please let me know too! I would LOVE to join! 🙂
Well, technically, they were sold out half an hour BEFORE 10 AM. 🙂
It was nice finally meeting you Lori! See you on the 10th. 🙂
I was really bummed that i wasn’t able to get a slot. To think I just work at one of Serendra’s restaurants! Would have been there earlier if I could have gotten out of my breakfast shift. Oh well.
Any chance you’ll be having another food photowork shop? 🙂
I’m the lucky 31st person hahaha. But it’s OK! I’m just happy to be there yesterday 🙂
I’m sooooooo sorry Carina! It’s my fault! It was nice meeting everyone! 🙂
