Then in 2012 after our project together, KitchenAid Philippines gave me a new mixer that was part of the Custom Metallic Series. Satin Copper (on left in photo above), fitted with the 5-Quart Glass Bowl, and equipped with the new rubber-edged paddle, it’s quite the stunner, no?
Handsome these mixers are but HEAVY, so it’s a delightful surprise when I cast eyes on the new KitchenAid Artisan Mini. Mini but mighty is how I’d describe this new line of stand mixer. Compared to the classic model, it’s 20% smaller, needing just 96 square inches of counter space than the regular models that require 132 square inches.
The Mini is also 25% lighter, 10 to 15 pounds less in weight than the larger models. Clearly, a new generation of mixers designed for those who want to do more with less space. In addition, the mixers are compatible with almost every KitchenAid attachment such as the Citrus Juicer, Spiralizer, Food Processor, etc.
The Mini is made from die-cast zinc and gorgeous in this Guava Glaze color. Small and sleek with the curved tilt-head design and all the usual attachments: dough hook, flat beater or paddle, and wire whip.
So far so good, but:
My white KitchenAid mixer holds 4.5 quarts and the copper one, 5 quarts. Would this 3.3-liter capacity stainless steel bowl prove too small for my recipes?
I’m pleased to say that the Mini delivers on bowl capacity coupled with the horsepower of the classic models. Bread dough can challenge even the sturdiest of mixers but it’s no match for this Mini machine. The bowl can comfortably contain approximately 3.5 cups of flour and whip 8 medium egg whites.
What I’m thrilled about is the Soft Start® feature, the lowest among the 10 speeds that helps to prevent ingredient splash-out and flour-in-the-face. Yes, you know what I mean.
KitchenAid has produced yet another outstanding product in looks, design, and performance. Wait ‘til you see what I made with it!
Tomorrow: The recipe for the bread that I made in my new KitchenAid Artisan Mini.
