Speaking of dengue, I’m tested for it too. I have to take three blood tests before our doctor is convinced that I’m okay: no dengue but lots of rest, please. And might I request some ice for these puncture wounds, please?
This is an important year for me: in May, it will be the 10th anniversary of Dessert Comes First. Yes, really.
Feels like forever? Or just yesterday?
There’s much that has changed and much that I’m doing to prepare for the anniversary. But there’s a malaise I still feel, an illness tracing trails in my psyche. I’ll be back, just as soon as I feel better again.
Illustrated above: from malunggay leaves to papaya leaves to this latest dengue cure-all, tawa tawa leaves. Steep the leaves in hot water and then drink up. A good friend of mine happened to have a neighbor who was more than kind enough to provide a bunch of the herbal greens. Possessing a flavor that reminds me of pandan, I prefer this over the papaya leaves I was forced to drink the last time I had dengue.
