My Rock Stars: A Video Tribute to DCF Readers & Fans from DessertComes1st on Vimeo.
Who’s the rock star? YOU are.
I doubt my ability to describe just how much my readers and fans mean to me. Ever since September 5, I’ve been contacted via all mediums by people who tell me that they’ve been reading DCF for years and that – finally! – I had come out with a book. I was tagged on my Instagram and Twitter feeds, and I saw photos of my book skillfully styled with The Lori Sundae from BONO Gelato or the Dessert Comes First cupcake from Cupcakes by Sonja. There were also many “selfies” with the book and plenty of messages from people who had tried the various recipes in it or just wanted to express their sentiments.
I love hearing from my readers but there’s nothing quite like meeting them. People who read DCF are an energetic, exuberant and HUNGRY lot and that’s what the crowd was like last September 21 during Dessert Comes First Fans’ Day. There was much to eat, many books that were signed, a few tears shed, but most of all, there was a love for food and people who are linked because of it.
My heart is fat and full with the outpouring of appreciation shown to me. In private, I have wept a few times because I’m so taken by people – YOU – who have read the blog, bought the book, made the recipes, come to my events, emailed/tweeted/Instagrammed/tagged me … the list is endless and so is my gratitude.
So, in supreme thanks, I dedicate this video to YOU, the Readers & Fans of Dessert Comes First, the blog and the book. You are my rock stars and I wouldn’t be where I am without you.
Thank you to everyone who was part of the Dessert Comes First Fans’ Day, everyone from my sponsors to my purveyors to my guests, and of course to Fully Booked.
Enjoy the video, a remarkable retelling produced by my exceptional video crew led by Bong Fernandez of BongVideos. The video will stream in HD from this website but if you prefer more viewing options, click here to be redirected to Vimeo.

Bravo! Great video!
What a turn out! Congratulations! I would have been one of those fans, lined up early if I was back home. Been reading your blog since 2005 (i think!) and so thrilled that you finally have a book. It’s on my christmas wishlist!
Congrats Lori!!! 😀 😀 😀
Love that shot of you guys hopping up and down and hugging 😀
nakakaiyak naman! even though I wasn’t able to attend the book launch, I felt all the love and excitement during the event just watching this video. Super! A much deserve applause to you Ms Lori. Hope to see you again! (and have my copy signed) 🙂 ?
Agree with Carina. Naiyak din ako 🙂 The video is just bursting with happiness. Thanks Lori for sharing your journey with us. 🙂 I hope you get my copy signed too, one day! I’ll bring my bebe along. (I know he’ll reprimand me in the future for not taking him with me when I get your autograph) :-p
Congratulations and more power to DCF!!!
Rockin’ video, Lori! Thanks for including my blog post here. Congratulations again on the book AND the very successful fans’ day event! 🙂
I would’ve been there if I were in Manila! I’ll just relive your Tea Party back in 2006 which I was fortunate to attend. I remember sugar crashing on my way home.
Congratulations again!
*Squeeeeeaaaallll* The book finally arrived! *happy dance happy dance* Just in time for Thanksgiving.
Okay, I am posting here because (finally) I’ve met you! 🙂 I had an absolute blast at that weekend trying out all the food, and most especially, meeting you. Like I mentioned, been a huge fan of your blog since 2007, and it was a treat browsing through the pages of your book and seeing the old DCF logos/designs at the first part. I’m only a quarter done with the book, trying to masticate it ever so slowly every weekend that passes. When I’m brave enough to face the cheesecake recipe (because I only cook but not bake!), I will let you know.
Thank you for inspiring me to write better through the years of reading DCF. Most unforgettable post of yours? Your description of that Chocolate Ganache Cake from Karen Young (2005 post, made me buy an entire cake), and those extra sexy Valentine’s Day posts. 😉
Congratulations, Lori! 🙂 Keep inspiring us to write well, eat deliciously, and share all the great food discoveries.
Congratulations, Miss Baltazar! I am only nine years old but I truly love the articles and podcasts on your blog. My mom was the one who introduced me to your blog. 🙂
It was really thrilling that we saw you and had are book signed in Fully Booked days before the event. My mom and I had a blast meeting you.
Ms. Lori, it’s been a few weeks since i met you & had my book signed (plus the one for my bff in guam), but the high is still in me. I am now walking around with cheesecake cravings in my head (& tummy if course). But whereas i’m known more as a cooking mama, my passion for baking (w/c i had since i was in elementary but was backlaid when i went to college) came back. I’ve recently started baking again, & am making it a mission to make your recipes soon. And oh, you’ve also inspired me to finally start the blog i’ve always wanted to create. Thanks so much for being such an enthusiastic, fun role model!
OMG!
