Dessert Comes First readers are the coolest people on the planet. These pictures prove it.
Viewing the photo entries to the Dessert Comes First 6th Anniversary Party is quite the eye-opening experience for me. It’s thrilling to be able to match faces to familiar names that I’ve seen through the years on the blog, either in comments on posts or through emails to me. I’m astounded and flattered at the effort expended in these entries, most of which made me break out in big smiles or laugh out loud. Is it uncool to say that I love my Dessert Comes First readers? Because I do. I can’t wait to meet you all at the party.
Here are some of my favorite photo entries so far. Obviously, if you see your photo here, you’ve got your tickets. Just wait for the confirmation email from me. And for everyone else, please keep those entries coming!
When the “deliberating panel” saw this photo (and the cover), one of my friends commented, “Hanep sa art direction!” Another friend said, “Major effort here, Lori. Need we still think about this one?”
“We are Jo Albin Nery and Kirk Patrick Quijano; cousins by birth, best of friends by hobby, which is food-tripping! Being avid seekers of good eats and readers of your blog, it is in our best interest to join your photo contest so we may be able to attend your DCF 6th Anniversary Party… We do hope you like our concept as much as we do…Thank you very much for reading our entry and we hope to see you soon because WE WANT TO BE AT THE DCF 6TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY!”
Irene Chan says of her photo, “This is called kina-career ang shoot (hehe) but it was a pre-nup pic anyway :)” Her caption: Ice cream = pure bliss…we both have a huge sweet tooth and would love to join your party =)
Marion Bernardo is someone I’ve featured before on DCF. I was pleasantly surprised to see her entry and cracked up at her expression in the second photo. Her caption: “I can definitely handle the sugar rush at the DCF 6th Anniversary Party! I’m just getting started!” and then adds a personal postscript to me: “I really got a sugar high after this [photo shoot], Lori.”
I’m taken by the utter sweetness of this photo, and I’m not talking about the Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Fondue, although that looks good too. Say Lorianne Marie T. Pineda and Ryann Raymond E. Timbre about their photo: “Haagen Dazs Chocolate Fondue!:) We’ve got ice cream, sponge cakes, cookies, wafer sticks, fresh fruits and hot chocolate sauce! Yummmiiieee! Oh so delightful!”
Another couple photo, the expressions of which are priceless. Brian Chua and Blanca Riola have entitled the first one, “Akin ang Kanto!” The second one simply, “Brian and Blanca.” All together now, everyone: “Awww!”
Joy Cruz is one of my most loyal readers. I’ve had the honor of meeting her on more than one occasion, and she was the one who introduced me to the owners of Tsoko.Nut About her photo, she writes: “Every year on my birthday, I just wish for nothing but cake. In fact, I dream about cakes every single day. But since I don’t know how to bake, I just buy cakes … this year, it’s Dulcelin’s Strawberry Cake. Now this is what I call a happy burpday!”
Tala de Vera and JP Gesmundo. A simply beautiful photo (a “story” she rightfully calls it) with a beautifully simple caption: “Give me that cupcake already!”
Lastly, Arlyn Chan and her “Eenie Meenie Miney Mo!” photo.
