Christmas in August? Sort of.
Note: M.I.Y.O. Monday stands for Make It Your Own Monday, a question thrown out to DCF readers every Monday to jumpstart the week with lively interaction. I also welcome questions and suggestions for future MIYO Mondays. Email me.
I’ll be holding one last event later this year and, without giving away too many details just yet, I’d like to ask for your help in planning it. It’s an event patterned closely after the 6th Anniversary Party of Dessert Comes First held this past April — but with a twist. I get bored easily and thus, my events can never be clones of one another.
For those who’ve been reading Dessert Comes First for a considerable amount of time, you know how much I champion the home baker and our local food purveyors. I’ve mentioned many times how strongly I believe that the best desserts and the highest quality food comes from these people. The ones I’ve featured on DCF have become my friends and I continue to track their rising stars, ever proud of their success.
Having said that, I’m always on the lookout for new home bakers, new food purveyors — people who put passion and originality into what they offer.
So, to make my upcoming food event more representative of Manila’s dynamic food scene, tell me DCF readers:
Is there a home baker or food purveyor I should be checking out?
Whose desserts have you been enjoying? Whose products have you been buying and eating? Is it that baker I’ve heard about who makes maple cupcakes frosted with maple icing topped with caramelized bacon bits? Or what about that man who stuffs an entire liempo with lemongrass and whole garlic heads and roasts it a la Cebu-lechon style? If you’re eating it, I want to know about it, both the sweet and savory stuff. We eat and share here on Dessert Comes First.
If there’s someone you think should be at my next event, please tell me about them in the Comments form below. The more detailed you are, the more helpful it’ll be for me. Please include their names and contact information and if available, their website or fan page. And if you have a home-based food business and want to be part of my next event, then please tell me about yourself. I can’t guarantee anything but I’m truly grateful for your help, DCF readers. Thanks very much!
