During the holidays nothing succeeds like excess. Unfortunately, all good things must end, and that includes unrestrained eating, to which I had to bid farewell. On the first day of the new year, I ate my last no-holds-barred holiday meal because the next day, sanity and control take over.
This is Bizu’s celebrated 10 hour roast beef (P545). Meltingly tender, it has that full-flavored beefiness that we carnivores look for in a good hunka meat. I find that there’s too little gravy (and roast beef) so don’t be shy to ask for more ”“ the gravy, not the meat.
Just like my favorite eggs Benedict but with spinach, this one’s called eggs Florentine (P295) ”“ a golden glory with a slap of smoked ham.
My Bin and I ordered the risotto funghi (P425) for Boo thinking that she’d just pick at it. How wrong we were to underestimate the appetite of a 3 year old! Boo all but wiped the plate clean, dashing our hopes for a portion of the rice, leaving behind just the mushrooms.
front-back: caramel with fleur de sel (sea salt), ube, raspberry
“This is mine, Mama!” Boo declares, cupping her little hand around the raspberry macaroon. These circular discs of almond and egg white cost P35 each, but that doesn’t stop me (or Boo) from being blinded by their multi-colored hues. She stubbornly refuses to take her hand off the macaroon long enough for me to take a photo. Who said kids don’t know what they want?!
yummm!!! the photos make me *drool* i love bizu for their cakes and pasta too! i love it for roca and nirvana especially!
10 hour roast beef?! Jeebus, I’d love that.
Every time i eat a persimmon, I think “Well…this isn’t unhealthy, is it?” My mum won’t eat them (or any “sweet” fruit, as opposed to the not so sweet fruits and citrus) since she thinks they’re too sweet. For me, any fruit is good, as long as its whole. 😛
I’ll lose the weight later. I managed to do it last year, at least…
I looove Bizu. I wonder, what is your favorite dessert there? I always end up staring at the display for a long time before deciding (because I’d be supressing my desire to be a glutton).
Happy new year! 🙂
Hi Lori,
Been drooling over your pictures and salivating over your descriptions for a while now. Just wondering if it would be okay to link to your blog?
Thanks, and Happy New Year!
Candice–
I’m particularly fond of sour desserts, so I go for Bizu’s lemon tart, and of course the macaroons!

BIZU! This entry makes me drool! My favorite cake is Jolie since it’s sugarless and at the same time flourless. The Chocolate Samba is also really good! Thanks for this delicious post.
My husband absolutely loves Roca, a rich chocolate cake which can make your head spin… he swears by it. But the family favorite is Naomi, a sugarfree chocolate dessert that will definitely not disappoint. For a light lunch, one can opt for any of their quiches which one can order with a choice of soup or salad. To satisfy any sandwich cravings, one must try their croque monsieur….the best I’ve tried in Manila. Happy eating!
I *heart* Bizu. The decor is whimsical, the cake display case is eye-popping, and I feel like I’m in heaven when I sink my teeth into their delicious cakes.
Thanks for the drool worthy post, lori!
bizu .. bizu….I can’t wait till they open their Mall of Asia branch. I won’t have to treck all the way to Makati for a slice of heaven.
