Yup, I’m back. It’s been a hectic two weeks of traveling and being on the go all day, everyday. I’m jetlagged beyond belief, not to mention exhausted, but I’m happy to be home slowly getting back into the groove of things. While I wade through 760 photos that I took during my trip and writing the posts that go with them, here are two photos that will give you clues as to where I’ve been:
Where can stroopwafels be found in the world? Obviously, they can be found in Manila, but where do they originate from?
Secondly, where can crepes, such as this irresistible banana-Nutella crepe be found at roadside stalls?
Hmm, difficult you say? Then wait for the posts. (smile!)
The Netherlands!?! Your initial photos look great …
I was supposed to make a trip to Amsterdam (I even got all my VISAs in order already) this November but decided to cancel because I’m crazy busy with a million things right now. Who knows, after reading your posts I’m might be inspired to re-book my trip. =)
im guessing netherlands too. great great picutres! can’t wait to see the others too!
Paris!! OMG,u met up with Robyn of thegirlwhoateeverything!! She already has a writeup on it, roboppy.net/food 🙂
ah are you in amsterdam! im so jealous! i love da nederlans!
I love stroop! And all those stroopwafels, a sugar lover’s dream. That picture of the crepe would put Crepe de Breton to shame! Now, that’s what I call a meal.
Weare selling stroopwafels here in Cebu. If you would like to order please contact us at 32-253-8319.

the banana nutella crepe looks like a comic character with a big gooey chocolate smeared smile
The first one is a real Dutch treat! Oh, tell us about the cheese! The second one? Of course, it’s crêpe country. Tell us about the pâté and I hope you tried some lapin, too.
Welcome back! Looking forward to reading your Dutch and French culinary trip.
oh myyyyyy….that banana nutella crepe….scrumptiou-oso!!!!! ms. lori…..why do you wana make us drool over food that we cannot have????? ;P hahaha just kiddin’
Thank you for sharing the lovely photos and I look forward to you post about the whole trip!
Stroop!!! Oooh! Did you bring any home 🙂 You can find the stroopwafels here but not the stroop…stroop my love!
Can’t wait for your posts! I am sure I am going to go into a missing-Amsterdam funk!
WHAT THE HELL KIND OF SUPER CREPE IS THAT?!!?!?!?! ?!?!
I want.
Lori, Oh dear. You went to the land of my favorite fattening foods – smoked eel and ollibolen (?) which is the best fried dough I’ve ever tasted. Holland. The American funnel cake has nothing on this specialty fried dough. I’m hungry now. Can’t wait to read the blogs.
I really enjoy your blog, having just discovered it recently.
Those banana crepes actually set my mouth to watering!
Good teaser.
You traveled to Belgium.
Lori, how can you do this to Joey? She’s still recovering from MarketMan’s maple chicharon post, and now you’re going to write about stroop?! And how can you do this to me, less than a month away from my beach trip?! I just know I’m going to see heart-stopping pictures of patisseries…maybe you could show pictures of the French men instead? They’re less fattening… 😉
Holland is my guess.
Can’t wait to hear your adventures Lori 🙂 Did you have dutch pancakes too?
Tina the ex-new yorker — I just have to say, “You went to the land of my favorite fattening foods – smoked eel and ollibolen”…a kindred spirit! I have a recipe for ollibolen…I had to make it because the craving were getting out of hand!
Wooohooo, you’re back! *HUGS!*
Now THAT’S a banana crepe!! If they made crepes like that here I’d be a serious crepe junkie
i was also thinking belgium?
Joey, Where did you ever get a recipe for ollibolen? My goodness, it’s bringing back memories of how many I speed- scarfed down when I was in Amsterdam in the late 80’s. Care to share the trade secret? Thanks!
Lori, these photos are so mouthwatering! I’ve just consumed a whole pack of Eng Bee Tin mongo hopia and my sweet tooth still managed to ache for that crepe!
Belgium?
I’m going to guess Germany. When my cousin went there she discovered the joys of Nutella and to this day, she still spreads it on her toast!
The first thing which caught my eye when I accidentally stumbled upon this blogsite is the uber-yummy banana-nutella crepe combo. Great desserts and great pics! Can’t wait to read more of your entries!
paris? :p
i’m salivating right now…
it’s killing me!!!
Hi Lori, haven’t been visiting your blog bec I thought you weren’t back yet… But glad to receive that email from you — now I know that I can expect a good read from your blog every week. Went to France earlier this year and your photos made me relive my experience there. 🙂
Great to see you have new dining experiences. Can’t wait to read your succeeding blog entries. Cheers!
hey lori!
at which market have you been?
I am new to amsterdam so i would be happy to get one of those good looking banana crepes 🙂
