My computer has died on me. No, not crashed, DIED.
I’m working to get a new desktop together but it’ll take time and how long I don’t know. Thus, I’ve got (grossly) limited technological capability, working as I am now on my laptop which doesn’t have even a smidgen of the monstrous power that my desktop has … had. Sob! Is it embarrassing to say that it’s a 5 year old computer? Bought it a year before I started Dessert Comes First. Oh, well.
Since I won’t have the time or wherewithal to crank out my many-photo’d posts teeming with my customary eloquence, I offer you my P.O.D. — Photo of the Day. This is one photo a day (Monday to Friday because weekends are for play) of food shots that I keep in a folder christened “Photo Purgatory” because I haven’t a clue what to do with these multi-colored, digital sketches.
The first P.O.D is my farewell to summer: Oreo and banana milkshakes, one of each. The weathermen have declared that summer is officially over, obliterating any need perhaps to make one of these creamy refreshers. But I can’t concur. Ever seen those people quaffing their grande Frapps at Starbucks on a rainy afternoon?
Oreo milkshakes are easy to love especially if an entire cookie is plopped on top. But it’s got to be an Oreo otherwise it’s not as good. I’ll concede that Cream-O’s are acceptable, especially the fudge-covered ones, but that’s as far as I’ll go. As for banana milkshakes, I’ve always loved them though it’s not a universal truth, apparently. My sister thinks it’s the most disgusting drink on the planet. But me, I love banana anything — give me a banana smeared with chili and I’d probably eat it.
So, as summer wanes, its flames of fire giving way to grey skies and clouds of cool, I’m making myself a milkshake and hoping that I’ll get my new computer soon.
