Hi Ms. Lori, may I bother you for suggestion regarding food in Batanes? Where and what to eat? They might have specialty that you know of?

Congratulations on your new column, Lori! I know just what you mean about word limits! As you can imagine (knowing my verbosity), I have trouble sticking to 700 or even 1000 words, if it’s a topic I’m enthusiastic about. It can take me hours to cut a piece down, word by painful word. And often, after I’ve edited the article down to size, I still prefer the original version with all the asides and descriptions intact — it just sounds more “me.” But then, I try to remind myself of the adage, “Brevity is the soul of wit.”

I grabbed my first issue of Foodie last weekend. I must say that it is the best looking local food related magazine in the market. I was impressed by the neat, uncluttered look which many local magazines have. I also was happy to see Food put on a new look recently. It is very nice to know that our local magazines are definitely getting better and comparable to their foreign counterparts.
