Market at the Hills
Any given weekend offers an abundance of farmer’s markets to go to, and distance is not a problem for me. In my ongoing quest to stray from my geographical comfort zones, I venture off to Market at the Hills along Temple Drive. It’s the weekend star of the Corinthian Hills area that includes Santis, Rustan’s Fresh, Starbucks, and Gran Caffè Casanova Ristorante Italiano, which, unfortunately, has lost its luster for me.

Weekend markets are an opportunity to engage the senses, to see and touch and taste what’s new. Market at the Hills is no different, except that here, everything being sold are specialties of local chefs. Thus: Gene Gonzalez’s Café Ysabel has a line of prepared foods being sold by his culinary students; Hasset Go offers different pies and cakes; my new favorite, Manna Bakery, is here with their incredible focaccia and soft whole wheat loaves. I also discover a wonderful woman, Gibby Sta. Cruz, who is a purveyor of the best tasting yogurt drink I’ve had in a while (it’s a bit thick, almost spoonable). Also here at this market, I have long dessert conversations with Oyee (gosh, I hope I spelled his name right!) of Dessert Solutions – their chocolate cake is so moist it needs to be eaten with a spoon. There are still more that I have to discover.
The sheer smallness of the space is striking, but it also lends a certain intimacy about the place, which is nice. The vendors all seem to know and are comfortable with one another, and there’s an eating area for those who choose to dine on-site. Because the market specializes in chefs’ food (thus, prepared food) there are only two stalls that sell fresh produce, and it’s very limited at that. Also, just because the food here is stamped with a chef’s name on it, don’t expect to meet the actual chef. It’s their people who do the selling.

Hi! I think you missed out on an interesting booth — the gourmet wagyu burgers at the Wagyu Jin booth — a most fabulous version of what is otherwise an ordinary fastfood item! The aroma of grilling wagyu burgers while approaching the Market will send your taste buds a-whirling!
Cheers to Wagyu Jin for providing a delicious invitation to visitors of the Market on the Hill!

omg! i tried chef hasset’s bread pudding creme brulee..It was really good and unique. Imagine, chunks of bread pudding and creme brulee in one? what they did, using a “blow torch” they caramelized the sugar first on top of the pudding just like the traditional creme brulee and it creates a burnt taste and a crisp surface that adds more unique flavor and taste for the bread pudding.
every night i kept on dreaming of it and cant wait for an another yummy weekend to come. im looking forward to try his “mango torte” something and the pastel cake (i forgot the name)>>..
Hope you will be able to post some pictures of their products too!
