There sure is nothing like street food... I just think anyone who lives in an Asian country is lucky to get the food that they do... I am always amazed at the still photos i see on various asian food blogs highlighting the delicacies served in these countries... The reason i say Asian is because i simply adore Thai food... And my love for thai food has made me want to experiment with vietnamese, malaysian, filipino.... gimme anything that has asian flavours, and im a happy girl !!! By Asian i mean most of the cuisines besides Indian.

With a palate predisposed to indian tastes, and one who loves Indian food nontheless, I, however, have got to say our street food is quite a hit and unique in its own way.. It's just that the variety of foods served is what bothers me... mostly, its the same ol same ol... Plus its either savoury or sweet, and stuff you could nosh on... Of all the places(states) i've been to, I dont think i've seen little shops on wheels whipping up huge lunches or dinners as they do in Thailand or Malaysia.. well, not where i come from at least!

Hi Lori. Every time read your food stories I always end up running to the kitchen for something to nibble on. :) Warning: Don't read this blog on an empty stomach! Anyway, I've been to HCM but I've hearing so much about Hanoi lately that I'm thinking going back to Vietnam might we worth the trip. Btw, love the write up on the Vietnamese coffee in the last post. I love the coffee. And I don't normally like coffee.

Yeah, people who travel and eat street food often don't seem to have as many stomach problems as one off tourists, must be all the active bacteria in our tummies.
A good nuoc mam gives any (mostly asian) dish a "malinamnam" kick, makes me eat more!

I heart condensed milk! I've been wondering why it's something that, over here, is relegated to childhood, and not used for much else but in pan de sal. Let's bring it back! ;-)

I miss Hanoi. I was there last May. I love that you can just sit anywhere and get something to eat at any time of the day. :) Looking forward to your other posts.
