Dear Lori,
Your article on duman made me nostalgic about the christmases of Pampanga. My mom made sure that there was duman starting November. She would buy from the old lady who would bring duman to our house in an antique looking open basket and the green young rice covered with banana leaves all fresh and green. Even then the duman was a priceless commodity. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

hi lori...as we grow older, we will cherish memories of our childhood...i always associate duman with christmas, and somehow no matter how hard things are right now, eating duman brings us back to the good old days...there is joy in eating duman because we know that there is joy in the process no matter how hard it is for the people to plant, harvest, pound it to its perfect hue...arent' we lucky to have the experience of enjoying it...

With simbang gabi starting, tsokolate with duman sounds like a great breakfast afterwards.

I've never tasted it, though, and, like Joey, I'm curious about this rare and expensive delicacy.
