Yeah, I first picked some up when I was in Germany at a supermarket checkout. The packaging is deceiving. I love how unassuming it is. It looks pretty standard and mass produced. Would have stayed clear of them back home in North America, but I thought, this Germany… they’re good at chocolates right? … what the heck. Man was I right, they’re so good!

Thanks for the history, I too wondered about the “Sport” bit. Adds a little bit of appreciation to the experience.

the christmas varieties are out now!!! sadly, they don’t have my favorite varieties anymore (Amaretto, Bailey’s, and my ultra favorite – COINTREAU!!!)

i discovered ritter sport during long-haul bus trips around germany in 2000. they had them at all the bus stops. was too excited for words to find them here soon after. i’m a praline addict.

fyi, old swiss inn sells them for php70 each. some branches of mercury drug sell them for about the same price.

I love the mini sizes for snacking. They’re perfect for a lunch or purse. I’ve always been partial to the butter biscuit ones, myself.
