Photo of the Day: Coffee At 9 a.m.

At 9 a.m., the world seems bleary pre-coffee.
My coffee jar is empty this morning, so I rummage around the air-tight jar specially designated for the fragrant beans. Today, I’m grinding an Urban Tempo dark roast from Tommy’s Coffee that’s available at the Salcedo Weekend Market which incidentally, is celebrating its 4th anniversary this Saturday.
The brew is fragrant and dark — a single sip and my life improves immeasurably.

Just a tip:
Store coffee beans in a dark airtight container as opposed to light glass. I just purchased Jamaican coffee in NJ for $44/lb. so I know it will go straight into my black Italian coffee can!

Coffee, even in whole bean form, will become stale if stored more than a week even in an airtight jar or any sealed container, due to reaction with the oxygen in the air inside the container.
I feel assured that the coffee I buy is fresh when I buy coffee that is vacuum-packed foil bags with the one-way valve.
