The F-words: Four and Facelift
Look around. See something different? Okay, A LOT different.
Last Saturday May 2, 2009, Dessert Comes First turned 4 years old. And looking at the calendar, how apropos that I’m writing this post on the 4th of May. It’s been 4 years since that rainy and dark afternoon when I holed myself up in my library and lit a flame to my food obsessions by creating an online home for them. What followed next were flares alternating with smoldering embers, reflective of my current food states of ecstasy and ennui. It’s been a wild ride, truly; one that I could never have expected but everything I could ever want. And more.
I’ve changed immensely in the last four years, both my food tastes and how I am as a person. I imagine that you, reader, have too. Thank you for being with me every post of the way. I do appreciate your emails and no, I don’t mind being approached at the malls and restaurants (and once in the washroom!) with the question, “Are you Dessert Comes First?” You know who you are.
One thing that’s the same after four years: I still get bored very easily. So that explains the new look of the site. It’s brighter, more gleeful. Because four years of maintaining a food blog is nothing to sneeze at and more than anything, I’m grateful to still be around.

Hi Lori! Congratulations on DCF’s fourth anniversary. I’m writing from India and I’ve been religiously following your blog for the last six months. I must admit I’m a big fan of your writing and wish I could meet you if you’re in India sometime. Your language has that spark that could boost the most jaded of palates. Yours is one of the first food blogs I ever read, and I still remember how excited I was to find someone as obsessed with dessert as I am! Thanks for sticking it out and not giving in to ennui (I remember that time). Many of us would be terribly disappointed if Dessert Comes First were to shut down.
