Off to celebrate a milestone.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
In the dark of night on this day of hearts, I hopped on a plane and left the country. I’m headed to France where I’ll be turning 40 on Sunday. Birthdays have always been a big deal for me, and this one, turning the big four-oh, is especially momentous. So I asked my Bin to take me back to the world capital of pastry, where we could celebrate this significant event.
Travel is my fuel and the wellspring of my inspiration. As I enter a new decade personally, next year, Dessert Comes First hits the one-decade mark. It’s time for me now to rip myself away from my home base to reassess, regroup, reboot.
As American novelist, Sherwood Anderson, said:
The thing of course, is to make yourself alive. Most people remain all of their lives in a stupor.
The point of being an artist is that you may live.
Oh, the stories I’ll have to tell you when I get back!
PS: Should you wish to relive them with me, my 6-part series on my Paris trip back in 2006, begins here.
