Eight personalities, one thing in common: dessert.
Kitchen’s Best is one of my favorite dessert places in Manila, and one that I’ve written about many times. November is a big month for them as it heralds the first anniversary of their flagship store at the Fort.
To celebrate, sisters Bern, Martina, and pastry chef Roselyn Tiangco have named 8 people in various fields, all frequent Kitchen’s Best customers, whom they call their Tastemakers.
I’m very honored to have been included in this distinguished group. As Martina explains when she told me that I’d been chosen, “You’re all very successful in your fields with palates that seek the very best; it’s what Kitchen’s Best strives for.”
All eight of us were asked to choose one Kitchen’s Best dessert for the shoot, and though I was torn among several faves – as all of us were – I decided once again on my forever favorite: the White Chocolate Macadamia Brittle Cheesecake. This cake was also something I included in my video for Fully Booked because I love it so.
At the photo shoot earlier this month. It was quite the challenge to bite, wink, and smile all at the same time.
At the Tastemakers event yesterday dubbed “Kitchen’s Best celebrates the Best of the Best: Our 8 Tastemakers”, the photos were unveiled to the press.
With fellow Tastemaker, Marco Lobregat. Believe it or not, I was Marco’s English teacher way back when he was a senior in Ateneo. (!) There’s trivia for you!
The photos will be displayed in the Kitchen’s Best store for a year, so that’s more than enough time for you to come visit and have dessert. I’m quite tempted to ask Martina to reserve the table under my photo for Dessert Comes First readers. How cool that’d be!
Each Tastemaker went home with specially made sugar cookies that had our photo printed on it. I squealed with glee when I saw these. I love them but don’t think I could bring myself to eat one. Somehow, I don’t feel right about eating my face…
